The BBC filmed a Blue Peter 'Challenge' at Whilton Mill recently. The plot was for MotoGP125 star Scott Redding to train presenter Joel Defries to race a minimoto! Scott used Josh's bike for some of the practice!

Joel didn't win by-the-way, he came last... and he crashed... he also got lapped 4 times!

Josh has been around motorbikes from being born, and had his 1st bike at the tender age of 4, a Yamaha PW50. This was restricted until he got used to the throttle, it took about a week.  He was then going as fast as he possibly could, and going over small jumps.

Josh was always keen to go as pillion on his his dads Suzuki GSXR 1000 and always wanted to "go faster", and "we wont tell Mum".

At the age of 8, in August 2004, Josh went to an indoor track and tried some hire bikes out, he was wobbly for the 1st few laps, but soon got to grips with it.

His dad then took the plunge a few weeks later and bought him a new Polini GP3 4.2, it was supposed to be a christmas present.......but he got it early!

In November 2004, he entered his 1st meeting at Lucky Devils indoor winter championship, and soon proved a natural and was always in the top 3. At the end of the championship Josh had finished a very creditable 2nd overall. A good start to Josh's racing career.

2005 saw Josh doing the Lucky Devils summer championship. He continued were he left the winter championship and was never off the podium all year, finishing 2nd overall in the championship.

In 2006 we went on our 1st venture to the annual minimoto trip to Spain. Josh had a very good week finishing 4th in the races at the end of the week. He also had his 1st ride on a production bike, and proved he was more than capable of handling the extra power.

Josh competed in the 2006 summer series with Lucky Devils on his 4.2 (he couldnt ride the proddy until he turned 10 in August), as well as a few rounds with the British (MMRA) on his 4.2 and proddy.

Mid season Josh changed to GRC machinery, and his results dramatically improved, proving the bikes were more suited to him than his Polini GP3's. He finished 2nd overall (again) at the Lucky Devils championship and had good results at the selected British rounds that he entered, as well as the SEMRC (Southern championship). In the winter of 2006 Josh competed in 2 series, Stretton 2000 winter championship and The English winter nationals. Josh won the 4.2 at Stretton and the winter Nationals and was 2nd in the proddy class at each championship.

This caught the eye of TEAM RACETECH, and he was to ride for them in the 2007 British championships aboard there brand new RT2 bikes. He didnt disappoint, finishing the year as 2007 British Junior Cadet champion and 3rd in the production class. At the end of the year Josh took delivery of a Metrakit 70 for the last 2 rounds, after a few minor tweeks, Josh got to grips with the bike and had top 10 finishes (a best of 6th) on his 1st ime on a gearbox bike.

2008 is going to be an exciting year for Josh. He will competing in the British championship (MMRA) and the National Pocketbike Series (NPS) aboard his Metrakit 70 and will be riding a production GRC-RRZ 08 minimoto for the MINIMOTO RACING team.
